Dissatisfied customer with a complaint.

I brought this tub for $17,000 cash no financing and only had 2 service calls. Each time there seemed to be a problem with them coming out to repair the issue.

The last time I had an appt I got stuck in California and I called them promptly 3 hours before he was to arrive to cancel and reschedule the appt. I have my plane ticket and hotel receipts as proof we had to lay over until the next morning. I spoke to the technician and he told me he doesn't have the case anymore and it was referred to someone that is closer because he is 3 hours away. He never told me he still came to my house but he came anyways and took pictures as if he came all the way and wasted his time to make me look bad.

When I called Safestep they told me someone will be contacting 5-10 days. Three weeks later, no one has called and now when I call them to see why it's taking soo long, they are telling me that I have to pay $179 for someone to come out to look at it. This company is a rip off and they are taking elderly people's money and they don't want to come to fix the repairs. For that type of money, this tub should not have all these problems.

It should be iron clad for $17k. I could have brought 8 sauna tubs for that price. They advertise in the AARP magazine for the elderly and are upselling these tubs for ridiculous prices and it's not worth it.

Plus, they are using high pressure sales tactics enticing people to buy these tubs. The public needs to know what is going on with this company and they need to be investigated by the State attorney's Office.

As of this writing, this company has a rating of only 3.5 stars. That should be enough to send you looking somewhere else.

My mother contacted Safe Step Walk-In Tub in February. They removed a walk-in shower and installed the tub on March 5th. It was a nice model and the installed price was over $30,000. One of the selling points for her was the 'no-strength locking handle'.

Since the day it was installed, my mother has not been able to close the door by herself. I've looked at it, and it is obvious that the parts aren't aligned in a way that the latch can smoothly move over the door striker to close it. So, other than a couple of attempts the first week, it has gone unused, and my mother has had to use a shower in a tub. Stepping into the tub is a hazard for her.

She falls regularly. She and I have been calling to remedy this situation for two months now. A few weeks ago, two people (a salesman, and an installer, I believe) showed up and looked at it. They said the door was warped and ordered another one.

They said they would return and install it when it arrived. It was delivered to her house two weeks ago. I happened to call their customer support line again that day. The customer support person on the other end of the line said that she could see the tracking information and knew that it would be delivered that day and be available for installation.

The installer never returned. I called again last week since no one has come to install the door and was told that a customer service manager would be called immediately (not the first time I'd been given that answer). Still nothing. I called again just now.

Someone with an offshore accent answered the phone and took my contact information. I'm sure I'll have to call again after this Memorial Day weekend. There seems to be a pattern here of the company responding to all low reviews, apologizing and giving customer service contact info. I expect this review will receive one also!

At my mother's age and health situation, three months could be a significant portion of her remaining life. Is a year's worth of independent bathing worth $30,000, or six months, or three months?

Calling once per week hasn't gotten us anywhere. I feel the next step is to sue.

Wrong tub was put in incorrectly and had to be removed and replaced with the model I ordered. The first crew installed the tub that had the plumbing on the wrong wall.

My bathroom door and wall were damaged when they brought the tub into the room. Caulking looked like a two year old had done it. The first crew were there from 9 am until after midnight. They would not let us use the toilet during that time.

I have a disabled child and one bathroom. We had to use a bucket downstairs in the basement. The new crew had to tear out the wrong tub, reinstall and fix the wall the first crew used for the plumbing. The second crew were here from 9 am to 5 pm and let us use the toilet.

They were very nice. I, did, receive a new, white, door from the company to replace my nice wood door. So it doesn't match the other 5 wooden doors.

I was promised $250 for my inconvenience, which I never received. The company said it was mailed to me.

Also, if you want to take a standup shower you need to be a contortionist.

Aroma Cannisters

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have spent over one half day online looking for Aroma Cannisters for my recently installed tub. I found a product that looks exactly like the one left with me by the installers.

Problem: The items I received are slightly too large to fit my tub, I have searched hundreds of web sites and cannot find one that I am sure will fit my needs. Can you supply me with an outlet that I can use without spending a lot of time. I am 85 years old, like your tub, but don't want die researching aroma therapy online. Hope you can help.

Thank You.

Beware! bait and switch...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

contract for install within 6-8 weeks... signed and $1,5000 deposit paid by this was to be customer, after 3 plus months and much nagging by me, "installer" appeared...

we disassembled bath area , then we were told altho contract said Safe Step would provide all electric etc., and they had examined site before giving me a price of $18 K+. assembler said customer needed to... (at a cost to customer of $1,500+) without contract price offset.

In addition, Customer was told cabinets etc.

needed removed...again without contract price offset but again at customer's responsibility with est. of $1,500 to remove and replace...

Bottom line, we've been torn up, have no tub but a lot of aggravation and told take it or leave it...

I called them twice on the phone number for safe step and the second time, I got their answering service. The first time the lady gave me a phone number for the service department and no one answered the phone.

The second time I called, I was told that the service department was closed and to call them back on Monday. Like I said before the safe step tub and service department is LOUSY!

Please don't do it. I have read most of the reviews here and I can relate to all of them.

From the torn down bathroom door frame. The water taking forever to drain from the tub. The water getting cold before the tub even fills up to cover you. The fixtures turn black and the seat mat and floor mat gets dirty that it's very hard to clean.

The workmanship of the contractor was awful. I now have the problem of it not turning on at all only 2 years it's been installed.

One more thing if I knew they would have to tear down my bathroom door to install the tub never would have purchased. Because you will need someone to paint and repair the door correctly back in place after it's done.

Dishonest sales tactics!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

A salesman showed up and was very nice seemed to know what he was doing and took his time explaining everything, so far so good. When it came time to give us a price it was quoted at $28000!!

There is no way a tub was worth that and we told him so and he came up with some discounts that brought it down to $24000 we told him still too high then eventually came down to $18000 which we initially accepted and put $3000 down but after thinking a few hours we decided that was too much for us and called and told him and all of a sudden Mr.

nice guy turned very rude and threating and after telling me to send in the cancellation form within 3 days to get our money back and hung up on me! I feel they will try to get an outrageous price to start with and how many poor old folks get screwed and take the first or second price?
